Westscott Horse Agistment partners, Kevin & Margaret Scott, and Melanie Bloom, met nearly 30 years ago through their mutual love of horses. It was then that the seed was planted to somehow, someday have a horse enterprise together. So nearly 20 years ago the Scotts bought ‘Westscott’, an under-utilised sheep and potato property near Orange in the Central Tablelands area of NSW, and transformed it into the beautiful little bit of horse heaven it is today.
The potential of Westscott Horse Agistment was realised by others in the Orange area and you will see many local equine professionals utilising our facilities as well as schooling their own horses to become Australia’s future champions.
Kevin & Margaret
Margaret fell in love with horses in her childhood, city born and bred, she learnt to ride in the city and her desire to have her own horse wasn’t realised until well into adulthood when she bought her beloved ‘Bloomers Twinkletoes’ as a foal from her friend Mel Bloom! Kevin quickly realised that he too needed to join the family fun and learn to ride, later he took up polo and as they say, ‘the rest is history’.
Mel
Melanie studied for a BSc in Equine Science in England, specialising in breeding, and has been working with horses for over 20 years. She ran a farm stay with trail riding and also managed the breeding side of a family polo business, for 14 years. Melanie looks after the daily operation at Westscott Agistment and her expertise in horse management ensures a watchful eye on our charges is continuously maintained.
